Little Falls office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks tax partner with 5+ years of legal experience. The candidate will be reporting to the Tax, Trusts, and Estates Partner. Will be responsible for providing professional legal counsel and representation for high-net-worth individuals, institutions, and corporations. Act as an advocate and advisor concerning legal rights and obligations and recommend best practices and courses of action related to tax, trust, and/or estate issues. Read extensive material regarding tax law changes, monitor legislative developments, and advise clients with respect to the potential impact of pending legislation as related to their case. Conduct legal research using computer databases. Litigate tax disputes in court if necessary. Negotiate tax-related compromises with the IRS on behalf of their clients. Provide guidance on how to structure the purchase and sale of a business by looking at the seller's debts, liabilities, finances, and assets. Represent clients in court cases regarding tax-related legal disputes. Structure, negotiate, and document business entities. Write and file motions and court briefs. Perform other related duties as assigned. Should have extensive experience with planning and structuring business transactions and/or extensive experience on tax controversy matters. Experience with structuring sophisticated business transactions in a tax-efficient manner is essential. Must be admitted to practice law in the State of New Jersey. Admitted to practice in law in the State of New York a plus. Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation is strongly preferred. Should have US Tax Court trial experience. Proficiency in applicable computer programs (Lexis, Westlaw, Microsoft Office Suite) essential.
The candidate should have creative problem-solving skills. Excellent legal research, writing, and presentation skills, and high professional essential. Existing client relationships and portable business essential. Self-motivated and entrepreneurial needed. Should have strong accounting and mathematical skills. Strong analytical and collaborative abilities needed. The firm offers medical, prescription, dental, vision insurance, 401(k), an onsite fitness center, plus the potential for commission.
