Job Overview

A distinguished law firm based in New York City, NY, is actively seeking a seasoned attorney with significant experience in real estate law, particularly relating to renewable energy development. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of land use, title matters, and transactional real estate, and will play a critical role in advising major clients on property development for large-scale renewable energy projects. This position offers the opportunity to work with a nationally recognized legal team in a highly collaborative environment.

Duties

  • Guide clients through property acquisition and leasing processes for energy development sites

  • Draft, revise, and negotiate a broad array of real estate agreements, including purchase and sale contracts and ancillary transactional documents

  • Advise on utility-scale renewable energy projects with a focus on site control and title risk mitigation

  • Analyze and resolve title defects, negotiate title insurance endorsements, and collaborate with title agents and surveyors

  • Review title commitments and surveys; prepare curative documents as needed

  • Support transactions by preparing closing instruction letters and to monitor deal milestones

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary legal teams on cross-border or multi-jurisdictional projects

  • Maintain a high standard of client service, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and responsiveness

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of legal practice in real estate, with significant deal-side experience

  • Proficiency in handling title insurance issues and site control strategies

  • Background in advising on renewable energy infrastructure development is highly desirable

  • Ability to work autonomously while contributing to broader team efforts

  • Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and communication skills

  • Strong client-service orientation and attention to detail

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active and good standing with a U.S. State Bar (New York or eligibility for in-house counsel registration in NY preferred)

Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of real estate law and renewable energy site development

  • Advanced legal research and drafting capabilities

  • Strategic negotiation and problem-solving abilities

  • Comfort with fast-paced, high-volume transactional environments
