Job Overview:

A well-established law firm is seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Attorney to join its growing legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for advocating on behalf of injured workers. This role involves handling a high-volume caseload, negotiating settlements, and representing clients in workers' compensation hearings.

Location:
North Charleston, SC

Duties:

  • Manage a caseload of 100+ workers' compensation cases effectively and efficiently.

  • Negotiate and resolve workers' compensation cases promptly and for top-dollar settlements.

  • Advise clients on legal options and develop strategies for successful case outcomes.

  • Communicate effectively with clients throughout the legal process.

  • Work with case managers to confirm coverage via e-case or WCC Verify Coverage.

  • Draft, review, and submit necessary workers' compensation forms to the Commission and other parties.

  • Represent clients at hearings scheduled by the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission (SCWCC).

  • Conduct thorough case investigations, including gathering witness statements and obtaining surveillance video.

  • Coordinate with case managers and clients to ensure attendance at all scheduled medical appointments.

  • Arrange Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs) when necessary.

Requirements:

  • 3-10 years of experience in Workers' Compensation law (Plaintiff or Defense).

  • Demonstrated experience trying multiple cases before the Workers’ Compensation Commission.

  • Ability to manage an independent caseload of 100-125 cases.

  • Strong leadership skills to guide support staff effectively.

  • Exceptional client communication skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in South Carolina.

Skills:

  • Strong negotiation and litigation skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage a large caseload efficiently.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Proficiency in legal research and case management software.
