Job Overview:
A respected law firm is seeking a skilled Patent Agent to join its Patent Prosecution & Litigation Practice Group with a focus on Electrical Engineering & Software. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field, along with experience in drafting and prosecuting patents. This role offers an exciting opportunity to handle complex patent matters and contribute to the success of the firm’s high-profile clients.

Location:

  • Huntsville, AL 

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications in electrical engineering, software, and related technical fields.
  • Manage patent litigation matters, providing strategic advice and representation.
  • Advise clients on patent portfolios, intellectual property strategy, and protection.
  • Conduct patentability, infringement, and validity analyses.
  • Represent clients before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address complex intellectual property issues.

Requirements:

  • IP experience with patent prosecution and litigation.
  • Background in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
  • Design engineering experience with chip companies is a plus.
  • Preference for expertise in networking, software, and wireless technologies (3G/4G/5G).
  • Associate and Patent Agent candidates must be admitted to the USPTO and have 2-6 years of relevant experience.
  • All candidates must be a member of the USPTO.

Education:

  • Relevant undergraduate degree (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field).

Certifications:

  • USPTO registration required for all candidates.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and multitasking abilities.
