A law firm in Washington, DC is seeking a Telecommunications and Security Associate Attorney with 2-4 years of experience in telecom, media, wireless, and cable issues. The candidate will work closely with partners and associates on complex matters related to technology, media, and telecom, providing counsel to high-profile clients on regulatory and policy matters. Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with partners and associates on a wide range of matters related to telecom, media, wireless, cable, privacy, and data security.
  • Handle legal, regulatory, and policy matters such as privacy and data security, universal service, competition, and interconnection.
  • Provide counsel to clients on telecom and media-related issues, helping them navigate complex regulatory environments.
  • Conduct legal research and draft written work products, including memoranda, briefs, and other client-facing communications.
  • Support the growth and management of client relationships in the technology, media, and telecom industries.
  • Advise clients on data security and privacy matters, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze complex legal issues related to telecom, media, and data security, offering unique, creative perspectives and solutions.
  • Contribute to business development efforts, working closely with the team to expand client engagements and practice capabilities.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 2-4 years of prior experience related to telecom, media, wireless, and cable issues, preferably within a law firm, the FCC, or in-house.
  • Licensing: Must be admitted and in good standing with the District of Columbia Bar. Candidates licensed in other states or territories must be eligible to waive into the DC Bar and agree to apply for an Exception to Admission under DC Court of Appeals Rule 49.
  • Privacy and data security experience is a plus, as is any relevant technical education or background.
  • CIPP/US certification is a plus but not required.

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Bar Admission in Washington, DC, or eligibility to waive into the DC Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal and regulatory issues into clear and actionable advice for clients.
  • Organized and efficient, with the ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage complex assignments while meeting deadlines.
  • Creative problem solver with excellent analytical skills to navigate and interpret complex telecom and media regulatory environments.
  • Team-oriented and able to collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis, and knowledge of telecom and media regulatory frameworks.
  • Technical skills related to privacy, data security, and telecommunications law.

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations, telecom and media law, and related legal frameworks.
  • Experience with data privacy and security regulations is a plus, particularly in advising clients on compliance and risk mitigation.
  • CIPP/US certification or a background in privacy and data security is advantageous.
