Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is currently seeking a skilled Patent Prosecution and Litigation Associate Attorney to join their dynamic team. Duties:

  • Draft, prosecute, and litigate patents in the areas of electrical engineering, software, and related technologies.
  • Manage and strategize patent portfolios, advising clients on patent protection, licensing, and litigation matters.
  • Work on patent infringement cases, including preparing legal arguments, claim analysis, and patent validity opinions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, to assess and protect clients' intellectual property.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare written reports on complex patent-related issues.
  • Represent clients before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and in various courts.

Requirements:

  • Must have experience in intellectual property law, specifically patent prosecution, with a focus on electrical engineering or software.
  • Familiarity with networking technologies, 3G/4G/5G wireless systems, or similar areas is a plus.
  • Experience with design engineering in a chip manufacturing environment is a beneficial asset.
  • 2-6 years of legal experience in patent prosecution or litigation.
  • Must be admitted to practice before the USPTO.
  • Associate candidates must be licensed to practice law or eligible to become licensed in their working state, with a preference for candidates licensed in California.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • USPTO admission is required.
  • SC State Bar admission (California Bar is a plus).

Skills:

  • Expertise in patent law and intellectual property matters.
  • Proficiency in drafting patent applications and managing prosecution processes.
  • Strong technical background in electrical engineering, computer science, or related fields.
