Senior Litigation Attorney for Houston Office

Job Overview: A law firm seeks an experienced Litigation Attorney with over 5 years of practice in civil or federal defense litigation and/or insurance coverage and defense to join their Houston office. This role involves managing a diverse caseload from inception through resolution, collaborating with senior attorneys, and handling all aspects of litigation, including trial work. The ideal candidate will have strong writing skills, a solid work ethic, and the ability to handle a variety of legal matters independently.

Duties:

• Manage a broad caseload from initial filing to case completion, working closely with supervising attorneys.
• Attend hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials as part of an active trial docket.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, settlement documents, and other key legal documents.
• Develop and implement discovery plans, including drafting and responding to discovery requests.
• Create and execute comprehensive litigation strategies for each case.
• Regularly communicate with clients, preparing detailed and updated reports on case progress.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil defense litigation, federal defense litigation, or insurance defense.
• Ability to independently manage a diverse caseload while working collaboratively with senior attorneys.
• Trial experience, including attending hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on legal writing and case reporting.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in the state of Texas.

Skills:

• Strong legal writing and drafting skills for motions, pleadings, and briefs.
• Expertise in managing discovery and creating discovery plans.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients and other legal professionals.
• Strong organizational skills, capable of handling multiple cases simultaneously.
• Experience developing and executing litigation strategies.
