A law firm in San Diego, CA is seeking a Junior to Mid-Level Product Liability Associate Attorney with 2+ years of litigation experience to join its Product Liability practice group. The ideal candidate will possess strong litigation skills, a commitment to client service, and the ability to handle complex product liability cases. Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle product liability litigation from inception to resolution, including pre-trial preparation, discovery, motions, and trial.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case strategy and defense.
  • Draft and file pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents with state and federal courts.
  • Manage the discovery process, including taking and defending depositions, preparing discovery requests and responses, and coordinating with expert witnesses.
  • Attend court hearings, arbitrations, mediations, and trials.
  • Assist in trial preparation, including developing trial strategies, coordinating with trial teams, and preparing witness testimony and exhibits.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing legal guidance and regular case updates.
  • Work collaboratively with senior attorneys to develop case strategies and ensure efficient handling of cases.
  • Negotiate settlements where appropriate and engage in alternative dispute resolution.

Requirements:

  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2+ years of litigation experience, ideally with a focus on product liability or similar complex litigation.
    • Experience managing discovery, depositions, motions, and trial preparation is required.
  • Education:
    • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
    • Strong academic credentials are required.
  • Licensure and Certifications:
    • Active member in good standing of the California State Bar or the ability to be admitted via waiver or reciprocity.
  • Preferred Experience:
    • Federal clerkship experience is strongly preferred but not required.

  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced litigation environment.
  • Strong verbal communication skills for interactions with clients, opposing counsel, and internal teams.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with senior attorneys and support staff.
  • Detail-oriented with superior organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with litigation software and e-discovery tools is a plus.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in settlement discussions.
