Job Description: Mid-Level Environmental Regulatory Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm in Wilmington, DE is seeking a Mid-Level Environmental Regulatory Associate Attorney with a strong background in environmental law and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will possess the skills to navigate complex environmental statutes and foster positive relationships with clients and regulatory agencies.

Duties:

  • Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with clients, lawyers, business professionals, and third parties.
  • Produce deliverables, answer phone calls, and respond to correspondence efficiently and responsively.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and quality work products while meeting deadlines.
  • Foster positive work relationships and comply with all firm policies and practices.
  • Engage in both physical and sedentary activities, including extended computer use and participation in meetings and conference calls.
  • Perform all other duties, tasks, or projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Admitted to practice in Washington, D.C., and another state.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental law.
  • Prior law firm or agency experience is required.

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active State Bar membership.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and writing skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Research and problem-solving skills, with conceptual thinking abilities.
  • Good business judgment and persuasive communication skills.
  • Familiarity with environmental litigation, regulatory compliance, and key statutes including TSCA, FIFRA, CAA, CWA, CERCLA, RCRA, and analogous state laws.
  • Experience negotiating agreements related to compliance and cost recovery.
  • Familiarity with advising clients on emerging environmental issues and public relations matters.
  • Background in heavy metal industries, defense industries, chemical manufacturing, and/or maritime industries preferred.
