A law firm seeks a Patent Agent with a focus on Electrical Engineering to join a dynamic legal team in San Antonio, TX. The Patent Agent will collaborate with clients and attorneys to evaluate invention technology, assess patentability, and draft and prosecute patent applications. Duties:

  • Collaborate with inventors and researchers to evaluate technologies and assess patentability
  • Draft and prosecute patent applications for innovations related to wireless technologies, AI, processor systems, and more
  • Work on patent portfolio management and provide strategic guidance for clients
  • Respond to USPTO actions and assist in maintaining and expanding patent portfolios
  • Stay updated on advancements in technology to ensure accurate representation of evolving innovations
  • Work alongside attorneys to navigate patent law and provide advice on patent strategies
  • Develop expertise in specific areas of wireless communications, autonomous vehicles, and other emerging fields

Requirements:

  • Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent
  • At least two years of patent prosecution experience
  • Experience with 5G, Wi-Fi, AI, processor/memory systems, and related technologies
  • Registered with the USPTO or eligible to register
  • Strong understanding of RF front-end, image processing, and similar technologies
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field

Certifications:

  • Registered Patent Agent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) or eligible to register

Skills:

  • Proficient in drafting patent applications and navigating patent prosecution
  • Strong technical expertise in 5G, Wi-Fi, and AI-related technologies
  • Ability to work effectively with clients to develop and manage patent portfolios
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies, including autonomous vehicles, robotics, and computer vision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
