Job Overview:
A well-established law firm in the heart of New York City is seeking an experienced and bilingual Immigration Associate Attorney to join its dedicated legal team. The role will involve providing comprehensive legal representation, specializing in immigration matters, while also playing a pivotal role in client acquisition and relationship building. Ideal candidates will possess expertise in immigration law, a passion for social justice, and a strong ability to connect with and attract clients.

Duties:

  • Identify potential clients and business opportunities in immigration law services.
  • Conduct initial client consultations, evaluating legal needs and proposing tailored solutions.
  • Explain immigration services clearly to potential clients, highlighting the benefits of closing deals.
  • Prepare, file, and manage immigration petitions and applications (family-based, work visas, asylum, U-Visas, VAWA, naturalization, etc.).
  • Review legal documents for accuracy and compliance with immigration regulations.
  • Manage and track case files to ensure timely filings and deadlines are met.
  • Represent clients at immigration hearings and interviews, preparing briefs and necessary documentation.
  • Stay updated on changes in immigration laws and policies to provide the best advice to clients.
  • Leverage your sales skills to build strong client relationships and foster repeat business.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the New York State Bar.
  • At least 3 years of experience practicing immigration law, preferably with an emphasis on immigrant defense.
  • Strong knowledge of immigration laws, regulations, and procedures.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English with the ability to work effectively across diverse communities.
  • Proven sales or client relationship experience, with an ability to close deals and secure clients.
  • A commitment to social justice and advocacy for immigrant rights.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the New York State Bar Association.
