Patent Prosecution & Litigation Associate - Electrical Engineering & Software

Job Overview: A prominent law firm is seeking a Patent Prosecution & Litigation Associate to join its Patent Prosecution & Litigation Practice Group, specifically within the Electrical Engineering & Software team. This role offers a chance to work on cutting-edge technology matters, including patent prosecution and litigation in electrical engineering, software, and related fields. The position is open across multiple office locations, providing flexibility for the right candidate.

Location:

• New York City, NY 

Duties:

• Draft and prosecute patents related to electrical engineering, software, and other technological fields.
• Represent clients in patent litigation, including conducting discovery, preparing motions, and supporting trial preparation.
• Develop and implement patent portfolio management strategies.
• Provide legal counsel on patentability, freedom-to-operate, and infringement issues.
• Collaborate with clients and team members to advise on complex intellectual property matters.

Requirements:

• Experience in IP, particularly patent prosecution and litigation, in electrical engineering, software, or a related technical field.
• Design engineering experience with a chip company is a plus.
• Experience with networking, software, and wireless technologies (3G/4G/5G) is preferred.
• Candidates must be admitted to the USPTO.
• 2-6 years of relevant legal experience for Associate candidates.
• Associates must be licensed to practice law or have the ability to become licensed in the state of employment. Bar licensure in California is a plus.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and analytical abilities.

Education:

• A degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related technical field is required.

Certifications:

• USPTO admission is required for all candidates.
• Associate candidates must be licensed to practice law or demonstrate the ability to become licensed promptly.
