A law firm seeks a highly motivated mid- to senior-level Employee Benefits Attorney to join its esteemed team in Albany, NY. The ideal candidate will bring 4-10 years of experience in employee benefits law, with a strong focus on ERISA, retirement plans, welfare benefits, and fringe benefits. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of clients on diverse legal matters, offering legal counsel on compliance, plan design, and regulatory matters.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on the design, establishment, and administration of employee benefit plans, including retirement, welfare, and fringe benefit plans.
  • Provide counsel on ERISA compliance, regulatory issues, and other employee benefits laws.
  • Draft and review employee benefits plan documents and related contracts.
  • Assist clients with issues related to the compliance of employee benefits programs with federal and state laws.
  • Conduct legal research on employee benefits laws and regulations, and provide guidance to clients on the implications of changes.
  • Handle the negotiation and resolution of disputes involving employee benefits programs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, understanding their business needs and providing tailored legal solutions.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and professionals within the firm on complex employee benefits matters.

Requirements:

  • 4-10 years of experience in employee benefits law, including ERISA and compliance with employee benefit regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of retirement, welfare, and fringe benefit plans.
  • Proven experience with the design, administration, and compliance of employee benefits programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex legal concepts clearly.
  • Strong client service orientation with a proactive, solutions-driven approach.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and work efficiently under tight deadlines.
  • Initiative and a self-starter attitude in developing client relationships and business.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar in New York or eligibility for admission.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in New York (or eligible to apply for admission).

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of ERISA and employee benefits laws and regulations.
  • Experience with the design and compliance of retirement, welfare, and fringe benefit plans.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
