Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking an experienced Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Associate to join a top-ranked practice. The associate will advise clients on a wide range of employee benefits and executive compensation matters, including retirement plans, health and welfare benefit programs, and non-qualified deferred compensation plans. Clients include publicly traded companies, privately owned businesses, financial institutions, and tax-exempt organizations. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven individual with strong experience in employee benefits, ERISA fiduciary issues, and executive compensation.

Location: Cleveland, OH 

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on employee benefits and executive compensation matters, including tax-qualified retirement plans, health and welfare benefit programs, and non-qualified deferred compensation plans.
  • Analyze and draft health and welfare plans and qualified retirement plans.
  • Advise clients on ERISA fiduciary matters and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Work on the employee benefits aspects of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions.
  • Foster and maintain strong client relationships through strategic legal guidance and support.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to develop legal strategies that meet business objectives.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience in employee benefits and executive compensation law.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and draft health and welfare plans and qualified retirement plans.
  • Strong understanding of ERISA fiduciary responsibilities and compliance.
  • Experience with employee benefits in the context of mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex legal issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster and maintain client relationships.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the bar in the state of practice (or eligible for admission).
