A prestigious law firm is seeking a skilled Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney to join their Electronics & Software practice group. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in U.S. patent applications, along with bilingual proficiency in Japanese and English. This position will involve close collaboration with the firm's Tokyo office, providing a unique opportunity to work on cross-border intellectual property matters.

Duties:

  • Prepare and prosecute U.S. patent applications, focusing on patent drafting, filing, and office actions.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Tokyo office, assisting with patent filings and technical evaluations.
  • Provide strategic advice to clients on patent protection, patent portfolio management, and IP enforcement.
  • Conduct patentability, freedom-to-operate, and infringement analyses.
  • Stay updated on evolving patent law trends, including changes to USPTO procedures and guidelines.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their business goals and tailor patent strategies accordingly.
  • Manage multiple projects efficiently while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in patent prosecution.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Japanese and English is required.
  • Strong experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications for software and electronics.
  • Registered to practice before the USPTO.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage complex projects.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.

Certifications:

  • USPTO Registration is required.

Skills:
