Job Overview:
A law firm specializing in family law is seeking an experienced Family Law Litigation Associate to join their growing team. This full-time, remote position requires a minimum of 5 years of Virginia family law and litigation experience. The successful candidate will manage cases from inception to resolution, handling a variety of family law matters, including contested and uncontested divorces, custody, child support, and more. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate attorney who enjoys client interaction and trial advocacy, with the flexibility of working remotely.

Location:

  • Fairfax, VA.

Duties:

  • Conduct client meetings via phone and video conference.
  • Draft various marital agreements, including property settlement agreements, prenups, postnups, and co-parenting plans.
  • Manage family law cases from inception to trial or final resolution.
  • Handle cases across multiple Northern Virginia courts, including Fairfax, Loudoun, Arlington, Alexandria, and Prince William counties.
  • Multitask and manage multiple case deadlines efficiently.
  • Track case progress and manage electronic client files.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of family law litigation experience in Virginia, including contested and uncontested divorces, custody, visitation, child support matters, modifications, and contempt proceedings.
  • Ability to handle contested hearings and trials, including motions and temporary orders hearings.
  • Proven experience with property division and child custody cases.
  • Exceptional research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Strong trial advocacy and negotiation skills.
  • Comfortable working remotely with minimal supervision and managing multiple deadlines.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law in Virginia.

Skills:

  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional trial advocacy and negotiation skills.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including familiarity with legal tech tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple client cases and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an empathetic and client-focused approach.
