A law firm seeks a seasoned and highly skilled Senior Immigration Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will bring 5-8 years of experience in immigration law and a passion for defending clients' rights. Duties

  • Provide strategic legal counsel to clients and explain complex immigration concepts.
  • Represent clients in both detained and non-detained immigration cases, including removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage and oversee a diverse caseload, ensuring timely and effective progress for each case.
  • Conduct intakes and case assessments for detained individuals, including visits to detention centers.
  • Prepare and submit a variety of immigration applications, such as family-based petitions, removal defense, and other USCIS filings.
  • Review and make necessary adjustments to immigration applications and supporting documents.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations on issues related to immigration law and policy changes.
  • Lead strategic consultations with potential clients to determine the best course of action for their immigration matters.
  • Develop and implement case strategies, preparing clients and witnesses for court hearings and USCIS testimony.
  • Perform legal analysis to identify potential case benefits and provide clear advice to clients.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs, motions, and other documents in support of immigration cases.

Requirements

  • Experience:
    • 5-8 years of experience in immigration law, with a proven track record of managing complex cases.
    • Strong background in handling family-based petitions, humanitarian cases, EOIR matters, detained cases, and USCIS applications.
    • Familiarity with case management software and its use in a legal setting.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with clients and legal professionals.
    • Highly organized, with the ability to manage a substantial caseload while maintaining attention to detail.
    • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred, but not required.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in the relevant state or jurisdiction.

Skills

  • Expertise in USCIS applications, immigration litigation, and deportation defense.
  • Strong research, writing, and legal drafting skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of immigration law and the ability to interpret and apply legal provisions effectively.
  • Proficiency in case management and legal software tools.
