Duties:

  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and other court documents.
  • Take and defend depositions, ensuring proper discovery procedures are followed.
  • Argue motions in court and assist with mediations, trials, and arbitrations.
  • Manage case files from inception through resolution, taking ownership of assigned cases.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to provide strategic legal advice and solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, ensuring timely updates and clear communication.
  • Participate in firm-wide practice groups, contributing to cross-disciplinary litigation matters.

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of legal experience in litigation.
  • Strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in construction or commercial litigation, e-discovery, or first-chairing depositions is a plus.
  • A North Carolina law license is required.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in North Carolina.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw).
  • Strong drafting and communication abilities.
  • Confidence in taking ownership of cases and leading various litigation stages.
