We are seeking a Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney to join our law firm in Herndon, VA. This position offers the opportunity to work in the areas of mechanical, chemical, and material science arts, including consumer products. A hybrid work environment is available for this role.

Duties:

  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications in mechanical, chemical, and material science fields.
  • Conduct legal research and provide strategic advice on patent-related matters.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their inventions and patenting needs.
  • Review and analyze existing patents and related documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Requirements:

  • 1-4 years of experience in patent prosecution.
  • An undergraduate or advanced degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, material science, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering.
  • Registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Familiarity with U.S. patent practice and demonstrated experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Undergraduate or advanced degree in a relevant engineering or science field.

Certifications:

  • Active registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Skills:

  • Strong legal writing and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
