Job Overview

A prominent law firm is seeking an experienced Team Attorney to join its Real Estate Finance & Capital Markets (CM) team. This position is ideal for those interested in a non-partnership track with reduced billable hour requirements and minimal non-billable duties. The role focuses on commercial real estate finance, specifically within the commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) sector. This opportunity allows for collaboration with industry leaders and potential growth into other capital markets transactions.

Location

  • Washington DC

Duties

  • Serve a major client by abstracting securitization instruments, including legacy, new issuance, and replacement special servicer instruments.
  • Utilize proprietary client software to support commercial real estate finance transactions.
  • Review and manage pooling and servicing agreements, indentures, inter-creditor agreements, and co-lender agreements specific to CMBS loans.
  • Work directly with nationally recognized attorneys and other industry leaders within the firm’s CM practice.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in commercial real estate finance, with a strong focus on CMBS.
  • Familiarity with legal documents related to CMBS transactions.
  • Experience with loan servicing transactions is advantageous.
  • Strong academic credentials and relevant experience in CMBS.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to practice law in the jurisdiction of one of the office locations, or eligibility for reciprocity/waiver.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Expertise in commercial real estate finance and CMBS transactions.
  • Proficiency in both written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
