Job Overview:
A growing law firm in Dallas, Texas, is seeking a Senior Associate Attorney (or Of Counsel) with at least six (6) years of experience in real estate law to join its Real Estate Development and Investments practice. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in real estate finance, joint ventures, and complex commercial real estate transactions. Location:

Duties:

  • Represent institutional equity investors and developers in real estate joint ventures, including those involving the acquisition and development of multifamily, industrial, cold storage, and other commercial real estate product types.
  • Lead the drafting and negotiation of joint venture agreements and related transaction documents.
  • Represent institutional borrowers in complex real estate financings, including construction loans, stabilized real estate financings, debt fund financings, structured finance, and CMBS-style financings.
  • Work with multifamily, industrial, cold storage, and other commercial real estate product types, including transactions with mezzanine finance components and complex capital stack structures.
  • Advise clients on real estate investment strategies, financial structuring, and risk management.
  • Provide high-level legal advice and guidance to clients and collaborate with other attorneys in the practice group on various projects.
  • Manage and mentor junior associates and paralegals within the practice group.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key clients, investors, and stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • At least 6 years of experience in real estate law, with a focus on real estate finance and joint ventures.
  • Strong experience with drafting and negotiating joint venture agreements and financing documents.
  • Proven ability to handle complex real estate transactions and work with institutional clients.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead negotiations and manage the legal aspects of large-scale real estate projects.
  • Collaborative, client-focused, and able to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple high-stakes matters simultaneously.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in good standing in Texas (or eligibility to waive in if licensed elsewhere).

Skills:

  • Expertise in real estate joint ventures and financing transactions.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills, particularly in real estate finance and development agreements.
  • Ability to manage complex, multi-party transactions and work under pressure.
  • Familiarity with the capital stack structure, including mezzanine financing and structured finance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a client-focused approach.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality legal work.
