The position will involve representing clients in complex environmental matters, including litigation, regulatory enforcement, and compliance with state and federal environmental laws. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of environmental regulations, including CERCLA, and be capable of advising clients on various legal issues related to environmental compliance, enforcement, and transactions. Key Responsibilities

  • Litigation: Represent clients in environmental litigation involving state and federal environmental laws, including CERCLA, environmental enforcement, and regulatory matters.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Advisory: Advise clients on compliance with federal and state environmental regulations, providing strategic counsel on statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Legal Research and Writing: Conduct comprehensive legal research on environmental law issues and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and memoranda to support litigation and compliance efforts.
  • Client Representation in Remediation: Manage client representation for sites requiring remedial action under federal and state laws, particularly CERCLA, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Environmental Transactions: Assist clients in environmental due diligence for corporate and real estate transactions, identifying and mitigating environmental liabilities.
  • Government Agency Negotiations: Act as a liaison between clients and regulatory bodies in matters involving environmental compliance and enforcement actions.
  • Client Communication: Maintain strong relationships with clients, providing clear and concise legal guidance on environmental matters.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across departments to develop legal strategies and approaches tailored to client needs and objectives.

Requirements

  • Experience: 2-3 years of experience in environmental law, focusing on litigation, regulatory enforcement, compliance, and environmental transactions.
  • Environmental Law Knowledge: In-depth exposure to federal and state environmental laws, including CERCLA, environmental compliance, and enforcement.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to assess and apply complex statutory and regulatory environmental requirements to client issues.
  • Remediation Case Management: Proven experience managing cases involving environmental remediation under state and federal laws.
  • Admission: Must be admitted to practice law in the state of Texas or be eligible to obtain admission.

Education and Certifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.): Degree from an accredited law school.
  • Bar Admission: Active admission to the Texas State Bar is required.
  • Certifications: Environmental law certifications or related credentials are advantageous but not mandatory.
