A law firm is seeking a Technology IPTS - Science Advisor/Patent Agent to aid in the development of intellectual property strategies for emerging and public technology companies. The role involves drafting patent applications, handling office action responses, working on U.S. and foreign prosecution matters, engaging in Inter Partes Reviews, and conducting freedom-to-operate analyses for corporate transactions and technology transfers. The position is based in Redwood City.

 

Duties:

  • Assist in the development of intellectual property strategies for emerging technology companies and public technology companies.
  • Draft patent applications and handle office action responses.
  • Work on U.S. and foreign prosecution matters, including Inter Partes Reviews.
  • Conduct freedom to operate analyses and perform due diligence for corporate transactions and technology transfers.

 

Requirements:

  • Should have a background in at least one or more of the following areas: computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, mechanical engineering, and/or electrical engineering.
  • Preferably, experience in drafting patent applications.

 

Education:

Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field (computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, etc.).

 

Certifications:

Admission to the Patent Bar is preferred.

 

Skills:

  • Proficiency in drafting patent applications and handling office action responses.
  • Knowledge of U.S. and foreign prosecution matters.
  • Experience in conducting freedom-to-operate analyses and due diligence for corporate transactions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
