A distinguished law firm is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney specializing in General Liability to join its litigation team in Richmond, VA. Location:

Duties:

  • Conduct comprehensive file reviews and provide legal analysis of claims and causes of action.
  • Perform extensive legal research and draft substantive briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs.
  • Represent clients in court, arbitrations, and depositions.
  • Draft and respond to discovery requests.
  • Retain and collaborate with expert witnesses.
  • Prepare for and attend trials.
  • Participate in negotiations and mediations.
  • Handle civil cases from inception through resolution.
  • Maintain an annual billable requirement of 1,950 hours.
  • Some travel may be required.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in General Liability litigation (workers’ compensation experience is a plus).
  • Proven ability to manage civil cases from start to finish.
  • Experience with depositions, including 30(b)(6) and expert witnesses.
  • Skilled in drafting and arguing substantive motions and attending hearings and trials.
  • Familiarity with negotiations and mediations.
  • J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in Virginia (additional state admissions are a plus but not required).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent research, written, and oral communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Commitment to responsive communication with clients and colleagues.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited institution.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Virginia.
