A law firm in New York City is seeking a skilled Patent Attorney to join its patent prosecution practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and proven experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple assignments efficiently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Conduct thorough due diligence, including prior art searches and analysis.
  • Collaborate with clients and attorneys to ensure accurate and timely patent filings.
  • Manage multiple assignments from various partners and clients, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Prepare and file responses to Office Actions and other communications from the USPTO.
  • Review and analyze patent portfolios to provide strategic guidance.
  • Stay current with developments in patent law and technological advancements relevant to the firm's practice.
  • Assist in preparing legal documents and reports related to patent prosecution and intellectual property strategy.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in patent prosecution, with a demonstrated ability to support clients in securing patent protection.
  • Registered to practice before the USPTO and Patent Bar eligible.
  • If applicable, licensed to practice law in the respective state.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail, writing skills, and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Registration with the USPTO and Patent Bar eligibility required.
  • State law practice license preferred but not necessary.
