Job Overview

A law firm seeks a dedicated Regulatory Associate Attorney to join its team in Richmond, VA. The position requires a licensed attorney in Virginia who is prepared to handle a variety of regulatory and litigation matters. This is a partnership-track role that involves independent case management, client relations, and the opportunity to contribute to the firm’s marketing and client development initiatives. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and adept at performing substantive legal functions in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

  • Maintain active membership in the Virginia State Bar and complete Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements annually.
  • Uphold all ethical requirements according to the state’s Rules of Professional Conduct.
  • Conduct discovery and review of electronically stored and hard copy data for litigation preparation.
  • Analyze and manage newly assigned and existing legal matters through to conclusion.
  • Draft necessary legal documents and manage the approval process to finalization.
  • Perform legal research and analysis on complex regulatory and litigation issues.
  • Write briefs and memos for submission to senior attorneys.
  • Formulate and provide well-supported legal opinions to clients.
  • Communicate regularly with clients regarding case progress and developments.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of regulatory law and related practices, particularly involving the State Corporation Commission (SCC).
  • Strong analytical abilities for in-depth legal analysis of complex matters.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and provide substantive legal representation.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to communicate with clients, attorneys, and staff.
  • Ability to travel within the state to attend legal matters in both private and public settings.
  • Willingness to work beyond standard hours to meet case deadlines and client needs.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the Virginia State Bar or intent to become a member.
