Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Long-Term Care/Health Care team. This position involves working on a wide range of regulatory and risk-management issues within the long-term care and healthcare sectors, including licensing, certification, compliance, contract reviews, and more. Prior experience in health law is preferred, but the firm is open to training candidates with strong potential who are eager to build their expertise in this dynamic and evolving field.

Location:

  • White Plains, NY

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel in critical areas of long-term care and health law such as licensing, survey and certification, HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid compliance, and Certificate of Need (CON) issues.
  • Foster and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with clients through proactive communication and high-quality service.
  • Actively participate in client meetings, presentations, and business development initiatives to help expand the healthcare practice.
  • Stay updated on evolving healthcare laws and regulations, contributing to thought leadership.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to provide comprehensive legal support to clients.
  • Meet the firm’s billable hours requirement of 1,800 hours annually.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in corporate or litigation law; health care experience preferred, but not required.
  • Strong candidates with less experience and a passion for healthcare law will also be considered.
  • Admission to the New York, Connecticut, or Massachusetts Bar is required; the ability to waive into other jurisdictions is preferred.
  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the bar.
  • Excellent research, writing, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload effectively.
  • Ability to absorb and process new information quickly and accurately.
  • High level of conscientiousness, dedication, and self-discipline.
  • Professional, positive, and flexible attitude, with the ability to work with diverse personalities.
  • Military experience is welcomed.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the New York, Connecticut, or Massachusetts Bar (or ability to waive into other jurisdictions).
