Job Title: Mid-Level Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A respected law firm in Portland, OR is seeking an experienced Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney with 4-6 years of practice in general commercial litigation. This role involves managing various complex litigation matters, including real estate, banking, insurance, and general business disputes. The ideal candidate will have experience in both federal and state courts and a strong capacity for independent case management.

Duties:

• Assist with all aspects of litigation, from initial case evaluations to case strategy and management.
• Handle communication with clients, opposing parties, and other relevant stakeholders.
• Manage and oversee discovery processes, including e-discovery, responding to requests, and conducting depositions.
• Manage motion practice at various stages of litigation.
• Represent clients in hearings, settlement conferences, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Develop and present litigation strategies, including preparing position statements and settlement offers.
• Collaborate with the litigation team on a wide range of disputes, such as business, real estate, and construction litigation.

Requirements:

• 4-6 years of general commercial litigation experience.
• Licensed to practice law in Oregon or eligible for reciprocity.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to handle cases with minimal oversight.
• Excellent research, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills, including public speaking.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the Oregon State Bar or eligibility for reciprocity.
• A California license and/or prior federal clerkship experience would be a plus.

Skills:

• Exceptional case management and strategic planning skills.
• Ability to handle a variety of cases and legal issues simultaneously.
• Effective collaboration within a team environment, alongside the capability to work independently.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with real estate, construction, banking, or intellectual property litigation is advantageous.
• Appellate experience is highly desirable.
