This position offers an opportunity to handle various aspects of litigation, including court appearances, trial preparation, and communication with clients and opposing counsel. The ideal candidate will be licensed to practice law in Kansas and Missouri and will possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a high-volume caseload.

Duties:

  • Court Appearances: Timely and accurately prepare for and attend court hearings within a reasonable travel distance. Travel, including overnight stays, may be required for some locations.
  • Court Coverage Placements: Review and request appropriate coverage for court calls when unavailable, ensuring all necessary documents and orders are in place for coverage requests.
  • Mid-Litigation Motions and Responses: Draft, review, and file necessary motions during ongoing litigation.
  • Trial and Arbitration Preparation: Assist in preparing for trials and arbitrations, which may involve overnight travel to distant counties.
  • Communication with Stakeholders: Communicate with clients, employers, and opposing counsel to facilitate the resolution of legal matters, including account and lawsuit management.

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law in Kansas and Missouri; additional licensure in other states is a plus.
  • Comfortable with frequent court appearances and consistent punctuality, with the ability to travel as necessary.
  • Proficiency in managing a high volume of cases, including multitasking and maintaining clear communication.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and other standard office software.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in Kansas and Missouri (additional state licenses a plus).
