Job Overview
A well-established law firm is seeking a highly experienced associate to join its growing national management-side Employment, Labor & Workforce Management (ELWM) practice in Los Angeles, CA. The ideal candidate will have at least seven years of experience in labor and employment law, including expertise in federal and state labor laws such as wage and hour regulations, trade secret law, and employment discrimination statutes. This position requires strong litigation skills as well as the ability to provide practical workplace law advice to clients.

Duties

  • Handle all aspects of litigation, including drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs.

  • Conduct and defend depositions.

  • Interview witnesses and review electronically stored documents.

  • Represent clients in court appearances and hearings.

  • Provide advice and counsel on workplace law issues such as wage and hour, employee relations, ADA compliance, and workplace accommodations.

  • Advise clients on employment agreements, reductions-in-force, and employment-related policies.

  • Manage and mitigate legal risks in the workplace environment.

  • Interact with clients and opposing counsel regularly.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant labor and employment law experience.

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state labor laws, including FLSA, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, ADEA, FMLA, ADA, and related state laws.

  • Experience handling litigation, including drafting motions, briefs, conducting depositions, and attending court hearings.

  • Proven ability to provide workplace law advice on employee relations, wage and hour issues, and other employment-related concerns.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to practice law in California is mandatory.

Skills

  • Strong academic credentials and excellent writing skills.

  • In-depth understanding of federal and state labor and employment laws.

  • Litigation experience, including depositions, pleadings, and motions.

  • Client relationship management and advising on workplace law issues.

  • High level of organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
