A law firm seeks a knowledgeable Real Estate Associate to join their New York City office, focusing on Condominium and Cooperative Law. The ideal candidate will possess 3-5 years of experience, primarily in counseling condominium and cooperative associations, and will have the opportunity to work alongside esteemed senior attorneys in the field.

Duties:

  • Serve as General Counsel to condominium and cooperative boards and associations on various real estate matters.
  • Negotiate agreements with shareholders and unit owners.
  • Draft and review contracts with third-party service providers such as managing agents, contractors, architects, and vendors.
  • Handle dispute resolution matters, including contract disputes and litigation.
  • Advise boards on compliance with environmental requirements, regulatory filings, and health/safety obligations.
  • Negotiate a wide range of legal documents, including vendor agreements, access agreements, construction contracts, financing agreements, notices, and demand letters.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in good standing in the State of New York.
  • 3-5 years of experience in real estate law, with a focus on condominium and cooperative matters preferred.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with clients and counterparties.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively with junior and senior attorneys.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited institution.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the New York State Bar.
