Job Overview:

A law firm is seeking a junior associate to join its Data Privacy and Cybersecurity team. This position offers the opportunity to work on privacy incident response, compliance counseling, risk management, and privacy litigation. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of state and federal privacy laws, including CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and biometric and health laws. The role provides a hybrid work schedule with in-office expectations on a weekly basis.

Location:

Duties:

  • Assist clients with privacy incident response, including risk management and compliance matters.
  • Provide counsel on privacy litigation, data protection, and regulatory compliance.
  • Advise clients on the application of privacy laws such as CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and state-specific biometric laws.
  • Draft and review privacy policies, contracts, and data protection agreements.
  • Monitor and stay informed of emerging privacy regulations and their impact on clients.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners on complex privacy issues.

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of experience in data privacy, cybersecurity, or related legal areas.
  • Knowledge of federal and state privacy laws, including CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and state biometric laws.
  • Experience in privacy incident response, compliance counseling, and risk management.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • CIPP/US certification (must be obtained within one year of hire if not already certified).
  • Admission to the State Bar in the jurisdiction where the candidate will practice.

  • Proficiency in privacy laws and regulations.
