Job Overview: A law firm is seeking an experienced attorney to join its Kansas City office within the Public Finance practice area. This dynamic role provides an opportunity for an attorney to expand their expertise in commercial real estate and finance transactions while building direct relationships with established clients. Location:

  • Kansas City, Missouri

Duties:

  • Draft and negotiate a wide variety of transaction documents, including leases, real estate-related documents, general contracts, and purchase and sale agreements

  • Prepare, negotiate, and review loan and security documents

  • Conduct financing transaction due diligence, including organizational documents, title and survey reviews, grant agreements, and other diligence reviews

  • Advise clients on real estate matters, including lending, finance, and leasing transactional practices

  • Manage regulatory and compliance-related services, ensuring appropriate approvals are in place before transactions are executed

  • Conduct real estate and lending closings

  • Review and draft organizational documents

  • Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations in relevant areas of public finance

  • Demonstrate commitment to achieving client goals and ensuring client satisfaction

Requirements:

  • Must be currently admitted to practice in Kansas and Missouri, with an active bar license in good standing, or able to be admitted to both within the first year of employment

  • At least 5 years of experience working with state and local governments, investment banks, institutional lenders, or other capital providers in tax-exempt financings and/or commercial real estate finance transactions

  • Knowledge of state and federal laws regarding the ownership and sale of real property

  • Proficient in real estate finance and asset-based finance transactions

  • Strong understanding of various business entities and their legal implications

  • Exceptional organizational and matter management skills

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills

  • Ability to apply critical thinking with attention to detail

  • Collaborative work ethic with the ability to work independently

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in Kansas and Missouri (or the ability to gain admission within the first year of employment)

Skills:

  • Strong drafting and negotiating skills

  • Proficiency in real estate finance and commercial real estate law

  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and financial transactions

  • Strong client relationship management skills
