Duties:

  • Provide expert legal advice on various immigration matters and create tailored strategies for clients.
  • Represent both non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Oversee and manage a caseload of immigration cases from start to finish.
  • Conduct client intakes, including visiting detained individuals at facilities.
  • Prepare and submit immigration applications, such as family-based petitions and removal defense applications.
  • Review and revise immigration applications to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
  • Work with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations on immigration law updates and issues.
  • Meet with prospective clients to discuss immigration strategies and provide consultations.
  • Guide clients and witnesses in preparing for court appearances and USCIS testimony.
  • Draft and file legal briefs for a variety of immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in immigration law.
  • Ability to handle a high-volume caseload while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven experience in moving legal cases forward and managing complex legal matters.
  • In-depth knowledge of family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, EOIR, detained cases, citizenship, and USCIS applications.
  • Familiarity with case management software preferred.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in the state of California.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the State Bar of California.

Skills:

  • Expertise in immigration law and procedures.
  • Strong legal writing and research skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Excellent client management and communication skills.
