Job Overview:
A prominent law firm in Fresno, CA is currently seeking an entry-level Immigration Attorney to join its dynamic and growing team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a recently admitted attorney to gain hands-on experience in immigration law while contributing to impactful cases that protect clients’ rights. The role involves managing a caseload, interacting directly with clients, and collaborating with a supportive team of legal professionals. The successful candidate will report directly to the Managing Immigration Attorney.

Duties:

• Provide clear explanations of immigration law and offer strategic legal solutions to clients.
• Represent individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals, both for detained and non-detained cases.
• Handle and manage a diverse caseload of immigration matters, ensuring timely progress.
• Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers.
• Prepare and file a wide range of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions.
• Review and revise immigration applications, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
• Engage with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations on updates or changes to immigration law.
• Conduct consultations with potential clients, offering strategic advice on immigration matters.
• Develop legal strategies, preparing clients and witnesses for USCIS testimony and court appearances.
• Provide legal analysis and determine the benefits of various immigration options for clients.
• Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements:

• A demonstrated interest in immigration law, through clinical work, volunteer experience, or internships during law school.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited institution.
• Active membership in the State Bar (or law graduates awaiting Bar admission will also be considered).
• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong track record of moving cases forward and managing a diverse caseload.
• Experience with case management software is a plus.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active Bar admission (or pending admission) in the state of California.

• Proficient in immigration law and procedures.
