A law firm in Birmingham, AL, is seeking a highly experienced Renewables Attorney to join their team. This attorney will provide expert legal counsel on a variety of renewable energy projects, with a focus on facilities operations and power purchase agreements. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with wind, solar, hydroelectric, and fuel cell facilities, as well as expertise in smart grid technology, energy storage, and energy efficiency. Strong client service skills, effective communication, and interpersonal collaboration are essential. The role requires a JD degree, active Bar membership, and a portable book of business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal counsel on renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, hydroelectric, and fuel cell facilities.
  • Oversee the negotiation, drafting, and execution of power purchase agreements and other relevant contracts.
  • Advise clients on facilities operations, regulatory compliance, and industry standards.
  • Offer guidance on smart grid technology, energy storage solutions, and energy efficiency practices.
  • Conduct detailed legal research and analysis on emerging trends and technologies in the renewable energy sector.
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to address legal issues and ensure project success.
  • Manage and resolve legal disputes and challenges related to renewable energy projects.
  • Develop and maintain a portable book of business, demonstrating a strong client base within the renewable energy sector.

Requirements:

  • JD degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active member in good standing of the Bar.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in renewable energy law.
  • Proven track record of a portable book of business.
  • Extensive knowledge of wind, solar, hydroelectric, and fuel cell technologies.
  • Familiarity with smart grid technology, energy storage systems, and energy efficiency.
