Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking an experienced Environmental Associate with 2 to 4 years of experience in environmental litigation, regulatory compliance, and administrative enforcement defense. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in environmental law and be able to handle cases related to CEQA, land use, site cleanup/brownfields redevelopment, and clean energy. This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse client base on complex environmental matters in a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Location:

  • San Francisco, CA

Duties:

  • Handle environmental litigation matters, including regulatory compliance and enforcement defense.
  • Represent clients in administrative proceedings, regulatory matters, and court cases related to environmental issues.
  • Advise clients on environmental compliance, permitting, and risk management strategies.
  • Assist with site cleanup and brownfields redevelopment projects.
  • Provide counsel on CEQA and land use regulations.
  • Stay current on environmental laws and regulations to provide proactive advice and defense.
  • Work closely with clients to develop strategies and solutions to environmental challenges.
  • Manage cases independently while working closely with senior attorneys on more complex matters.

Requirements:

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in environmental law, with a focus on litigation, compliance, and enforcement defense.
  • Demonstrated expertise in CEQA, land use, site cleanup, and/or clean energy issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage caseloads, including litigation and regulatory matters.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in California and in good standing with the State Bar.

Skills:

  • Expertise in environmental litigation, regulatory compliance, and enforcement defense.
  • Familiarity with environmental laws, including CEQA, site cleanup regulations, and land use.
  • Strong negotiation and client interaction skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex environmental issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Time management and organizational skills to handle multiple matters efficiently.
