Job Overview: A law firm seeks a skilled Associate Attorney to join its team in Topeka, KS. This role offers the opportunity to represent clients in personal injury and civil litigation cases while working closely with a dedicated legal team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing caseloads, interacting with clients, and negotiating with insurance companies. The position involves a blend of pre-litigation and potential litigation work, along with supervising non-attorney staff to ensure compliance with legal standards and regulations.

Duties:

  • Manage personal injury caseloads through the pre-litigation process, with some potential for litigation.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring excellent service.
  • Negotiate with insurance companies to secure fair settlements for clients.
  • Draft legal documents such as pleadings, discovery requests and responses, settlement agreements, and other necessary paperwork.
  • Ensure the accuracy and compliance of all documents prepared by legal standards.
  • Provide direction and supervision to non-attorney staff, ensuring adherence to applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Must hold an active Bar license in Kansas.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in personal injury law, workers' compensation, disability, or civil litigation.
  • Preferred: Active Bar license in Missouri.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • An active Bar license in Kansas is required.
  • A Missouri Bar license is preferred.
