Job Overview:
A leading law firm located in Chicago, IL is seeking an experienced Health Law Associate Attorney to join its team, focusing on data privacy and security within the healthcare sector. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in health law, particularly in the areas of data protection, privacy laws, and incident response. This position requires the ability to work collaboratively with both internal legal teams and external clients to provide expert legal advice and navigate complex regulatory environments.

Duties:

• Provide legal counsel on federal and state privacy laws, regulatory compliance, and data protection
• Advise clients on data management, protection strategies, and security protocols, including data flows and data mapping
• Handle incident response, including advising on legal implications and mitigation strategies
• Draft and negotiate commercial contracts with a focus on data security and privacy provisions
• Collaborate with internal teams, external clients, and non-legal stakeholders to ensure compliance with health law regulations
• Assist in the development and implementation of data security strategies for healthcare clients
• Stay current on legal developments in health law and data privacy regulations

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in health law, with a focus on data privacy and security
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with clients and colleagues
• Experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Understanding of technology, data protection practices, and security measures
• Previous experience in healthcare law or working with healthcare clients is highly preferred

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active State Bar membership
