The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of the California Code of Civil Procedure and Evidence Code, along with demonstrated skills in preparing pleadings, conducting discovery, motion practice, courtroom appearances, depositions, mediations, and settlement negotiations. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery demands, and responses in business litigation matters.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis of complex legal issues.
  • Independently identify legal issues, anticipate strategies, and recommend courses of action in litigation matters.
  • Participate actively in court proceedings, including hearings and trials.
  • Take and defend depositions of witnesses and experts.
  • Engage in mediation sessions and negotiate settlements on behalf of clients.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing strategic advice and updates on case developments.
  • Collaborate closely with partners, associates, and support staff to manage caseload efficiently and meet deadlines.

Requirements:

  • Active member of the State Bar of California and in good standing.
  • 3-5 years of substantive experience in business litigation, preferably in a law firm environment.
  • Proficient understanding of the California Code of Civil Procedure and Evidence Code.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong legal research and factual/investigative research skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
  • Outstanding academic credentials from an accredited law school.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of California.
