Job Overview:

A well-established law firm in Atlanta, GA is seeking a motivated Civil Litigation Defense Attorney with 2 to 4 years of experience in civil litigation defense. This full-time position involves handling a variety of medical malpractice defense cases and working autonomously with minimal supervision. The firm offers a collaborative environment with opportunities for trial preparation and direct client interaction. The role requires meeting a billable hour requirement of 1,950 hours annually, and the position comes with a competitive benefits package.

Duties:

  • Independently manage day-to-day case activities with minimal supervision
  • Track and meet critical case deadlines (answer deadlines, discovery deadlines, etc.)
  • Draft legal documents including answers, discovery responses, and productions
  • Oversee the work of nurses, paralegals, and administrative staff to ensure proper delegation of tasks
  • Attend depositions and provide detailed reports on findings
  • Communicate with expert witnesses and coordinate with legal teams for expert material preparation
  • Analyze medical records and assist in preparing materials for expert review
  • Prepare for trial, including document preparation and organizing evidence
  • Attend trials and assist in litigation proceedings

Requirements:

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in civil litigation defense, preferably with a focus on medical malpractice defense
  • Strong ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously
  • Experience with legal drafting, discovery, and trial preparation
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active member of the Georgia Bar (required)

Skills:

  • Proficient in legal research, drafting, and trial preparation
  • Ability to manage deadlines and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills to oversee paralegal and support staff
