A law firm located in New Hyde Park, NY, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Matrimonial/Family Law Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in matrimonial law, including experience with client relations, drafting legal documents, and managing cases from inception through trial. This position requires the ability to handle both contested and uncontested matters independently and collaboratively.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of matrimonial and family law matters, including both contested and uncontested cases.
  • Draft and file legal documents, including motions, discovery responses, statements of net worth, and divorce packets.
  • Conduct depositions, attend court conferences, and represent clients at trials and hearings.
  • Handle client relations, providing legal advice, updates, and guidance throughout the case process.
  • Collaborate with clients, experts, and opposing counsel to gather evidence and build case strategies.
  • Prepare and present cases in court, ensuring adherence to procedural requirements and deadlines.
  • Develop and maintain case management systems to track progress and ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Participate in settlement negotiations and strive to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Stay current with developments in matrimonial and family law, and incorporate changes into practice.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in matrimonial and family law, with a demonstrated track record of managing a diverse caseload.
  • Proven experience in drafting legal documents, conducting depositions, and representing clients in court.
  • Ability to handle both contested and uncontested matters with proficiency.
  • Strong organizational and case management skills.
  • Excellent communication and client relations abilities.
  • Capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of matrimonial and family law.
  • Proficient in drafting legal documents and handling complex case issues.
  • Strong litigation skills, including experience with depositions, court conferences, and trials.
