Job Overview: A law firm in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking an experienced BIS, OFAC, and International Trade Lawyer. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in U.S. export controls, sanctions, customs, and other international trade-related regulations. The role requires expertise in counseling, compliance, enforcement actions, strong communication skills, and a solid academic background.

Duties:

  • Provide expert legal counsel on U.S. export controls (BIS), sanctions (OFAC), and international trade regulations.
  • Conducted and oversaw compliance audits and internal BIS, OFAC, and customs investigations.
  • Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures.
  • Handle licensing, opinion work, and filings related to export controls and sanctions.
  • Respond to government enforcement actions and represent clients in related matters.
  • Train and advise clients on international trade compliance and regulatory matters.
  • Engage in FCPA and national security investigations (e.g., CFIUS).

Requirements:

  • Experience with U.S. export controls, sanctions, customs, and international trade regulations.
  • Proven track record in counseling, training, licensing, compliance audits, and handling government enforcement actions.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Active membership in the DC Bar.
  • Experience with FCPA and national security investigations (CFIUS) is a plus.
  • Strong academic credentials from a top-tier law school.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited U.S. law school.

Certifications:

  • Active member of the DC Bar.
