A law firm seeks an enthusiastic and motivated Entry-Level Immigration Attorney to join their dynamic team in Houston, TX. Duties

  • Assist clients in navigating immigration law matters, including removal proceedings and family-based immigration petitions.
  • Represent both non-detained and detained individuals in immigration court and before the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a caseload of diverse immigration cases, ensuring timely progress and client satisfaction.
  • Conduct intake meetings with detained individuals at immigration detention centers.
  • Prepare various immigration applications, including petitions for family-based immigration and removal defense.
  • Review immigration applications, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with immigration regulations.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, community organizations, and legal entities on immigration law updates.
  • Meet with prospective clients, provide strategic legal consultations, and determine appropriate legal strategies.
  • Assist in preparing clients and witnesses for court hearings or USCIS testimony.
  • Conduct legal analysis to identify potential case benefits and assist in decision-making.
  • Draft legal briefs and motions for a wide range of immigration cases.

Requirements

  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in immigration law or strong interest in immigration practice.
  • Experience with family-based immigration petitions, humanitarian relief, EOIR procedures, and USCIS applications.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, witnesses, and colleagues.
    • Ability to manage a caseload and handle legal matters from start to finish.
    • Familiarity with case management software is a plus.
  • Language: Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Texas.

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong ability to organize and manage multiple cases.
  • Proficient in legal research, drafting legal documents, and analyzing legal issues.
