Job Title: Probate/Estate Administration Attorney

Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm located in New York City is seeking a skilled Probate/Estate Administration Attorney to join their team. This is a hybrid, full-time position that offers flexibility with some in-office and remote work. The ideal candidate will handle all aspects of probate and estate administration, working closely with clients and providing legal counsel throughout the process.

Duties:

  • Manage and oversee the probate and estate administration process, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
  • Provide expert legal advice to clients regarding estate planning, administration, and Surrogate’s Court matters.
  • Draft legal documents such as wills, trusts, and other estate-related instruments.
  • Assist in the settlement of estates, including identifying and distributing assets and handling liabilities.
  • Represent clients in Surrogate Court proceedings, including will contests, probate hearings, and other related matters.
  • Conduct legal research to stay current on changes in estate law and regulations.
  • Collaborate with other legal professionals, including financial planners and tax advisors, to ensure comprehensive client support.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in probate and estate administration, including work with the Surrogate’s Court.
  • Expertise in estate planning, trust formation, and probate proceedings.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex legal issues efficiently.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with clients, courts, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a legal team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of estate and trust law.
  • Strong legal research and writing capabilities.
  • Excellent negotiation and client advisory skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with legal software and technology.
