A law firm in Washington, D.C. is seeking a Mid-Level FERC Litigation Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of litigation experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in administrative litigation at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), specifically involving oil and gas pipelines, FERC electricity regulation, and FERC Enforcement actions. Experience with complex litigation research, trials, and/or administrative hearings is highly desirable. The candidate should possess excellent organizational and writing skills, strong analytical abilities, and be proactive, supportive, and team-oriented.

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and briefs related to FERC administrative litigation matters.
  • Assist in trial preparation and support during hearings before FERC.
  • Analyze complex regulatory issues and provide strategic advice to clients.
  • Collaborate with partners and senior associates on case strategy and litigation planning.
  • Manage discovery processes, including document review and production.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders, providing updates on case developments.
  • Participate in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution processes.
  • Stay updated on developments in FERC regulations and industry standards relevant to the practice area.
  • Support business development efforts and client relationship management.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to, or eligible for admission to, the District of Columbia Bar.
  • 3-5 years of litigation experience, preferably with a focus on administrative law and regulatory matters.
  • Experience with FERC administrative proceedings is a strong plus.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Superior writing and analytical abilities.
  • Proactive attitude and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong commitment to client service and professional excellence.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to, or eligibility for admission to, the District of Columbia Bar.

  • Strong understanding of administrative law and regulatory compliance.
