Job Overview
A prestigious law firm is seeking an experienced associate to join its Mass Torts and Industry-Wide Litigation team, focusing on asbestos defense. The role will involve working closely with colleagues across multiple offices to represent asbestos defendants in state and federal courts throughout the country. Duties

  • Regularly take and defend depositions.
  • Conduct legal research and collaborate with senior attorneys to develop proactive defense strategies.
  • Manage claims through dismissal, settlement, motion practice, or trial.
  • Draft legal memoranda, pleadings, motions, and other necessary legal documents.
  • Represent clients in courtroom appearances.
  • Coordinate with co-counsel across multiple jurisdictions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of deposition and courtroom experience in toxic tort matters. Preference for experience in asbestos defense.
  • Admission to the New York Bar required.
  • Admission to the Connecticut, Massachusetts, and/or New Jersey Bar preferred (or ability to waive into NJ).
  • Familiarity with Zoom, MS Teams, and other video conferencing platforms.
  • Ability to travel for in-person depositions and court conferences, including overnight travel as needed.
  • Strong research, writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • High level of organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing tasks.
  • Quick comprehension and ability to process new information rapidly.
  • Professional, cooperative, positive, and flexible attitude.
  • Military experience is welcomed.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the New York Bar required.
  • Admission to the Connecticut, Massachusetts, and/or New Jersey Bar preferred (or ability to waive into NJ).
