Job Overview:
A law firm seeks a dedicated and skilled Family Law Attorney to represent clients in all aspects of family law, including divorce, custody, child support, and other sensitive legal matters. This role requires an attorney with strong advocacy skills, compassion for clients facing challenging circumstances, and the ability to effectively negotiate and litigate in high-pressure situations.

Duties:

  • Collaborate with paralegals and senior partners to ensure efficient progress of cases through the civil litigation process.

  • Represent clients in court proceedings, including hearings and trials.

  • Manage the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings.

  • Draft and review legal documents such as pleadings, motions, contracts, marital settlement agreements, judgments, and orders.

  • Maintain organized and up-to-date client files.

  • Provide representation in Child Protective Services (CPS) cases and advocate for custody on behalf of both mothers and fathers.

Requirements:

  • Proven success in representing plaintiffs and defendants in family law matters.

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, especially in emotionally charged situations.

  • Ability to handle a large and diverse caseload efficiently.

  • Comfort with taking cases to trial or pursuing early settlements as needed.

  • Willingness to adapt to a fast-paced environment and identify opportunities to improve client outcomes.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

  • Active license to practice law in the state of Texas.

Certifications:

  • Member in good standing with the American Bar Association (ABA).

  • Commitment to pursuing board certification in Family Law.

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal writing and research capabilities.

  • Ability to maintain composure and professionalism under stress.

  • Effective collaboration with a diverse range of personalities.

  • Strong advocacy skills for clients involved in custody and CPS cases.

  • A background in criminal justice is a plus.
