Job Overview: A law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney with a focus on medical malpractice defense to join its team in Seattle, WA. The ideal candidate will support partners in defending medical professionals against malpractice allegations and in responding to inquiries from state medical and nursing licensing boards. This hybrid role offers a path for professional growth, including the opportunity to eventually take on the lead role in trials.

Location:

  • Seattle, WA

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research using tools such as Westlaw.
  • Draft and respond to written discovery.
  • Conduct depositions and assist in various stages of discovery.
  • Serve as second chair during trials, with the potential to lead trials as first chair in the future.
  • Draft and argue motions.
  • Prepare pre-trial documents, including trial briefs, jury instructions, and motions in limine.
  • Manage multiple litigation projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Draft comprehensive and timely reports with a high level of written proficiency.

Requirements:

  • Admission to the Washington State Bar.
  • Minimum of 2 years of litigation experience, preferably in medical malpractice or related fields.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Experience or familiarity with ProLaw is beneficial but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience or knowledge of the healthcare or medical field is highly favorable.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with the Washington State Bar.
