Job Overview: A law firm based in New York City, NY, is seeking an experienced Liquor Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will work with a diverse range of clients in the alcohol, beverage, and cannabis industries, handling issues related to licensing, trade practice compliance, distribution, contracts, and dispute resolution. This role involves collaborating with a team of attorneys across the Firm’s offices, contributing to client service excellence, and fostering a collegial office environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal counsel on matters related to liquor licensing, trade practice compliance, distribution, and contracts.
  • Represent clients in disputes and resolve issues related to the alcohol, beverage, and cannabis industries.
  • Collaborate with and help manage a team of attorneys across the Firm’s offices.
  • Maintain and build strong client relationships through exceptional service and communication.
  • Assist in managing significant individual responsibilities while supporting team objectives.
  • Contribute to the Firm’s dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Utilize strong analytical and writing skills to deliver high-quality legal work.
  • Leverage a partial book of business to contribute to the Firm’s growth.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • License to practice law in New York.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience dealing with liquor matters.
  • Strong academic credentials and excellent analytical and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated client-service approach with exceptional communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm to work with and build a diverse team.
  • Ability to help manage a team of talented attorneys and manage individual responsibilities effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with FDA regulations is a plus.
  • A partial book of business is advantageous.

Skills:

  • Expertise in liquor licensing and compliance.
  • Strong negotiation and dispute-resolution skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • High level of organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in drafting and reviewing legal documents and contracts.
